This is a disaster waiting to happen...

That was the main thought on my mind when I was doing my first-time cooking of my late lunch today. I was thinking of having a more "proper" meal beyond just sandwiches or cereal, so I decided I'll try to cook up a simple meal. I bought some pre-cooked meat last week, then my roommate had a box of pasta with cooking instructions on it. Pasta + meat (+ some cabbage for vegetables) seemed like a good idea.

Man it was an adventure. At first, I was going to microwave the pasta in a bowl. After I put some water in the bowl and tried to fit the pasta in (with some of it out of the water), I realised that the bowl was rather small (and so was the plate I was planning to eat with). We didn't have a bigger bowl, so I had to transfer all the pasta (and the margarine below the pasta) into a small pot to cook on the stove. Once I got the pasta cooking on the stove, everything was quite smooth from then on (as long as I just followed the instructions), only thing was that I had to get a larger plate for eating with.

The chicken was pre-cooked with black pepper sauce. However, I had to puncture the plastic bag containing the chicken and the sauce a few times to ventilate it while heating it in the microwave. The bag was SOOOO stubborn. I was like furiously poking at it with 2 forks and it took me a while before I managed to make a few holes in it.

In the end, not too bad, quite satisfied with myself. :)

First entry from San Diego!

Hello this is Guangrong reporting from San Diego haha! My time here has got off to a cold but pleasant start. :)

I've settled in quite nicely. Got a place to stay (that was a BIG relief), a bank account, a phone line. Well, still have yet to find a church though... Spiritually, I think I'm on a slow path to recovery. Believe it or not, I've got to know another Christian here who told me that he hasn't been attending church in Singapore but is also looking for a local church now. He seems to be in pretty much the same spiritual state as me I guess... although I'm not sure how much attention he's been placing on his spiritual walk recently. Man, God picks the craziest time for me to help others, but yes I told my myself that I will do my best to help him grow spiritually. Hmm... it bears a rather striking similarity to when I attended Scamp in 2007, in which I met another friend who was seeking friendship and spiritual growth and made a personal decision then to help her grow. I guess caring for others and helping them is going to be (and already largely has been) a hallmark of my spiritual walk.

Now is already the 2nd week of lessons. And if I thought 1 NUS semester was rushed, this is going to be even worse. Hmm but everything is going to be S/U anyway, don't need to take it too hard... as long as I make sure I get S not U haha.

I realised that I've been feeling very sleepy lately. Could be the cold weather getting to me. Better be more active haha.

Ok it's very late... I better go sleep. Think I'm going to be sleepy tmr... Sigh... The cold weather really isn't helping me...
